I hit that moment on a GCP project and spent two days following confident, detailed, completely wrong guidance from every AI interface I had access to. Not wrong in an obvious way. Wrong in the way that only becomes clear after you've exhausted every path the AI suggested. The knowledge those tools were drawing from had simply aged out — and nobody had marked it as such. I built Plot because that gap between what AI says and what is actually true is not a model problem. It is a knowledge problem. And it is one we can solve.

What does "bring your own API key" mean?
Plot uses your own LLM API key — OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini — to process your documents and GitHub changes. You pay your LLM provider directly. Plot charges only for the governance platform, not for inference. Your inference costs are always transparent and in your control.
What is the difference between BYOI and managed RAG?
With BYOI, Plot sends updated section content via signed webhook to your own vector database. You control the full AI pipeline. With managed RAG — on Growth and Enterprise — Plot handles embedding, indexing, semantic search, and response generation. You ask questions and get accurate answers without managing any infrastructure.
Why is the Community tier a membership rather than a free tier?
Server costs are real. Plot is built and maintained by a solo founder who cannot absorb the infrastructure cost of thousands of users indefinitely. The $7/month community membership covers the cost per user and keeps Plot available for everyone who needs it. You are not paying for a feature list. You are helping keep the lights on for the next founder who finds this tool.
When should I upgrade from Community to Team?
The moment a second person is involved. When you need approval workflows, an audit trail, or role-based permissions across multiple users — that is the Team tier. Community is designed for one person maintaining their own knowledge base. Team is designed for accountability across a group.
